Your potential options in CNA’s career

Nursing assistants are valuable components of each facility staff of health care. Their work include all basic tasks such as bathing, nourishment and dressing the patients, making their beds, etc. They are also often the first people around the patient or family of patients, because they are close to the patient mostly. In hospitals and clinics certified nursing assistant is supposed to help other medical staff for example when assistants are needed to establish medical equipment or getting ready to take a patient for X- ray or surgery.

Despite of the hard work assistants are supposed to do, their salary expectations are lower on the pay scale of medical staff, as this is considered the entry level for providers health care. People entering the field of nursing do not do it only for pay. They do a willingness to help people, and a desire to enter the medical field before entering nursing schools. Although when they compare the hard work they do for the nurses on entry level, they sometimes get frustrated or angry when comparing the wages they receive.

A cna salary can be anything between $ 19 000 to $ 29,000, depending on location, work experience, etc. The median wage is about $ 26.300, which means a little more than $ 2000 per month. It is therefore a little more the minimum wage, and you can often secure health insurance plans and retirement.

Comparing these figures to the wage provided a a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), gives you a feeling of frustration. The median annual salary of a licensed practical nurse is about $ 45,000. Of course, an LPN training had longer: about 2 years compared to training a few weeks for a licensed practical nurse, as they hold more responsibilities. But the task seems easier when you look at the LPN profession from a viewpoint of a nurse’s assistant.
